Vivo is set to launch its X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max smartphones in Europe on October 27, 2026. The company unveiled the X500 series in Shanghai on September 21, 2026, marking a new focus on imaging technology.
Vivo’s New Imaging Strategy
The X500 series includes three models: the Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max. While the standard X500 will initially be available only in China, the Pro and Pro Max variants are headed to Europe. Vivo has partnered with Zeiss to develop advanced camera systems for these devices, emphasizing telephotography.
Both Pro models feature Zeiss-APO telephoto cameras and are powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro processor, designed to handle complex photo and video processing. The X500 Pro Max stands out with a 200-megapixel telephoto camera and a 1/1.4-inch sensor, offering a 35mm equivalent focal length of 85mm. It also supports 30x tele-zoom for distant, moving subjects, making it ideal for sports, wildlife, and concert photography.
Camera Innovations and Accessories
The X500 Pro features a 64-megapixel Zeiss-APO telephoto camera with a Sony LYTIA 610 sensor, co-developed by Vivo and Sony. It supports 20x tele-zoom, while the Pro Max offers a larger sensor and extended telephoto capabilities. Both models include optical image stabilization rated at CIPA 7.0.

Vivo’s Telephoto Extenders Boost Pro Max Versatility
Vivo introduces optional telephoto extenders for the Pro Max. The Vivo Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra provides 4.7x magnification, achieving a 400mm equivalent focal length. A compact version, the Gen 2 extender, offers 2.35x magnification and a 200mm equivalent focal length. These accessories enhance the cameras’ versatility for various shooting scenarios.
Both Pro models include the Zeiss TrueDynamic main camera with a Sony LYTIA L910 sensor, co-developed with Sony. This sensor has a dynamic range of up to 17 EV and low readout noise, ensuring detailed images in high-contrast lighting. The X500 Pro Max adds gimbal-level stabilization to both its main and telephoto cameras, compensating for movements up to three degrees.
For video, both Pro models introduce 4K Golden Hour Portrait Video, which uses log-based processing to deliver natural skin tones and a cinematic color profile optimized for warm evening light. Additional profiles, including Sunny Day and Modern Film, offer creative flexibility.
Display and Color Options for X500 Series
The X500 Pro Max features a 6.85-inch 2K display, called the Zeiss Master Color Display, while the X500 Pro has a 6.36-inch screen. China will offer four colors: Sunny White, Starry Gray, Moonlit Black, and Sunset Orange. European options remain unconfirmed.
With advanced camera systems and imaging features, the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max position Vivo as a strong contender in the premium smartphone market. More details will be announced at the October 27 launch event.

Combined with CIPA 7.0 stabilization, it ensures steady shots, especially at long focal lengths and during video recording.
