Reolink is preparing to expand its surveillance lineup with the OMVI 2i Ultra, a new camera system designed to function without a constant power connection. The device abandons traditional wired setups in favor of a removable 10,000 mAh battery and a 6W solar panel. This configuration aims to provide up to six months of autonomy based on the manufacturer’s estimates. Officials stated that 30 minutes of daily sunlight is sufficient to keep the unit running, thanks to a 26% improvement in panel efficiency.
Three-Lens System and Automatic Tracking
The OMVI 2i Ultra features a unique three-lens design to cover a wide area. Two of the lenses produce a panoramic view at 8 megapixels, while a third 5-megapixel motorized lens can rotate 355 degrees and tilt up to 50 degrees to focus on specific subjects. The system includes a SyncTrack function that automatically takes over when a person, vehicle, or animal moves within the panoramic field of view. It adjusts the framing and zooms in to keep the target centered. Users can also manually select a specific zone on the main screen to direct the motorized lens.
This approach to multi-lens tracking is a practical evolution of current smart home security. Early systems often struggled with the latency and processing power required to switch between wide-angle and telephoto views smoothly. The new hardware suggests Reolink has moved past those limitations, offering a smoother experience that mimics professional video production tools without the complexity.

Custom AI Detection and Local Processing
Reolink is introducing a new AI engine called ReoNeura, which processes data locally rather than in the cloud. The engine supports Custom AI Detection, allowing users to train the system to recognize specific events relevant to their property. For instance, a homeowner might program the camera to detect if a gate remains open and trigger a specific alert. The company is bundling these features with the Home Hub 2, a centralized unit that connects up to eight cameras.
The Home Hub 2 offers several practical advantages for users managing multiple cameras. It supports up to 16TB of external storage without requiring a subscription fee. The device also features natural language search capabilities, enabling users to find recordings by typing simple descriptions like person in front of the garage rather than scrolling through hours of footage.
Additional Models and Compatibility
The autumn 2026 release schedule includes the OMVI 2i Max, a simplified version of the Ultra model available at major retailers like Darty and Fnac. Reolink is also launching the OMVI X16 PoE, a wired camera with 24 megapixels and 16x optical zoom. Another model, the TrackFlex WiFi, is set to arrive on November 10, 2026. This camera combines 4K resolution with a 270-degree detection field and a motorized lens that pivots and tilts to follow subjects. It distinguishes between people, vehicles, and animals to reduce false alarms.
