Fujifilm is set to release the instax Pal 2, a digital camera that combines spontaneous digital photography with the instax system, on September 29, 2026, in Germany. The camera will be available in black and white for €169.99.
It allows users to choose from various instax image formats and effects and transfer selected photos to instax film using a compatible printer or hybrid camera.
New Features Over First Pal Model
The instax Pal 2 builds on the concept of the first instax Pal, which was a compact digital camera that did not print photos directly. The new camera offers more design possibilities, including the ability to choose from different instax image formats, apply effects, and create short animation sequences.
The camera’s name, “Pal,” means friend or buddy in English, reflecting its intended use as a constant companion for taking photos. Fujifilm has separated the photo-taking and printing processes, allowing users to focus on taking spontaneous photos while still being part of the instax system.
The camera‘s compact format also aligns with the current trend of mini digital cameras. The instax Pal 2 has a built-in viewfinder, a lever for selecting the image format, and a control wheel for applying effects. The camera’s app offers 30 effects that can be transferred to the camera, allowing users to set the image style before taking a photo.
The camera supports various instax formats, including mini, SQUARE, and WIDE, as well as a “No Frame” option. The instax Pal 2 also features an “instax Animation” mode, which allows users to take up to 10 photos in sequence and combine them into a digital animation.
Connectivity and Technical Specs Explained
The camera can transfer photos to a smartphone via Bluetooth or USB-C, with USB-C allowing for faster transfer and higher resolution images. The camera’s technical specifications include a 1/3.06-inch CMOS sensor, a 10-megapixel mode with 3776 × 2832 pixels, and a 1-megapixel mode with 1280 × 960 pixels.

The camera’s lens has a 28mm equivalent focal length and an F2.2 aperture, with a shooting range of 8cm to infinity. The instax Pal 2 has an internal storage capacity of around 100 photos, with additional storage available via microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards up to 2TB.
The camera’s battery life and charging time are approximately 2-3 hours via USB-C. With its compact size, weighing only 87 grams, and measuring 37 × 42 × 92.3mm, the instax Pal 2 is designed to be a portable and convenient camera for taking spontaneous photos.
